Mar Vista

Mar Vista is a family friendly community with a small town charm, found right in the middle of Los Angeles. Just 20 minutes to downtown LA and 12 minutes to Venice Beach, Mar Vista boasts a central location that has made it one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the Los Angeles area.

Mar Vista is also popular for the laidback and refreshing lifestyle it offers amid the constant buzz of its highly urbanized neighbors. Residents here know each other – something rare in a large metro like Los Angeles – and many of them come from a generation of families that have settled in Mar Vista since its early days.

A brief history

Living in Mar Vista, CA

  • Historic and contemporary communities. Mar Vista wonderfully blends the old and new facets of the region. Historic communities like Mar Vista Hill and Mar Vista Tract feature some of California’s original Mid Century
Modern homes, including a 52-home development by celebrated architect Gregory Ain. Elsewhere in the neighborhood are homes built in a wide variety of architectural styles reflecting the trends that prevailed in various eras.
  • Vibrant downtown. Historic Downtown Mar Vista, also known as the Venice/Grand View Historic Commercial District, is home to buildings constructed from the 1920s to the 1960s. Downtown is also the site of two popular community events – a weekly farmers’ market that’s considered one of the best and most popular in LA, and the seasonal Mar Vista Art Walk.

including Mexican, Taiwanese, French, Japanese, and more. Cozy ice cream shops and cafés are also among the neighborhood staples.
